Description

The Sun Odyssey 36i sailboat built by Jeanneau in 2010 is a great yacht charter for up to 6 guests. With a total of 3 cabins and a length of 36ft, it makes the boat trip a true pleasure even for inexperienced sailors. Rent the Sunny boat and experience sailing in Marmaris, Turkey the way you have always dreamed of.

Not only is the Turkish west coast the sailing area in the Mediterranean, but also one of the most beautiful sailing areas worldwide. For decades circumnavigators have passed on an old saying: The Caribbean you visit, in Turkey you stay. What is it about this territory that makes it so extraordinary, especially between April and November?

Extensiveness
The ’classical yachting area’ on the west coast reaches from Cesme in the north to Antalya in the south. This should read Approximately 2500 miles of coastline offer a veritable sailing eldorado to sailors of all experience levels and tastes. The diverse coastline, together with the quirky Greek islands that abound, guarantee that no two tours will be the same. You won’t find any overcrowded harbors and bays here either. This makes it one of the few sailing areas in the Mediterranean truly suited to catamarans: You’ll be able to enjoy your days without having to worry about where to moor at night.

Stable Weather Conditions
Between May and October, the skies of the Turkish west coast are usually cloud- and rain-free. As such, air and water temperatures are high. Late May marks the beginnings of the MELTEMI; a kind of small monsoon along the Turkish west coast. This NW wind rises daily between 11 am and 12 pm, peaks at about 4 pm and will have died down roughly two hours after sunset. Its speed averages from 15kn to a rare 25kn. Where else will you find sailing conditions as perfect and stable as these?

Cheap Prices
Mooring fees in Turkey’s marinas and council ports are moderate compared to the more western Mediterranean. Mooring in bays and at the restaurant’s jetties is free. Owing to the low price levels and high rate of exchange, you get good value for your money. Therefore your expenses are easy on the onboard piggybank.

Best Infrastructure in all of the Mediterranean
Turkey has a long-standing tradition of yachting, whether on- or offshore, the infrastructure is second to none in all of the Mediterranean. Harbors, marinas, administration and especially environmental conservation policies are known to be the best in the area. Turkey is the only Mediterranean region, that for the last 17 years has not pumped sewage into the sea. Turkey can guarantee the highest levels of water quality, environmental preservation and feel good standards.

The Turks
If you have never been to Turkey before you’ll be unfamiliar with the traditional Turkish hospitality that defies description. Starting right after berthing and continuing long after breakfast the next morning, the host of a Turkish bay will go to every length to ensure all of their guest’s wishes are fulfilled. Whether your needs concern water, electricity, waste disposal or the planning of an excursion, your host will do their utmost to please you with the best service possible. A Turk’s honest friendliness is as refreshing as it is unfamiliar to many a western tourist. It is with good reason that holidays in Turkey are known as holidays with friends.

Route Suggestions
In general, the following applies to our area: To the west of Marmaris, there is more wind (particularly in the Aegean, it can be strong and sometimes stormy), fewer sights, more landscape scenery, and more moderate temperatures. Towards the east (Göcek and further south-east) you will find less wind, more sights, less landscape scenery, and a much warmer climate! There are winds that come from the south, these can create bad conditions in the whole area, but rarely in summer. Have fun and always "good winds"!
